This bold new look, combined with the fact that the invention of pantyhose liberated women from girdles, was embraced by youthful women with unprecedented passion. At any rate, it took off like a rocket and it wasn’t long before every woman young enough to get away with it was wearing a mini skirt in the clubs and on the streets of every major city.
