The White Sox lost their second straight game after a run of 11 straight games won . It is their third defeat in 18 games.
Lerew (1-1), a right-handed rookie who was in his eighth major league start and 17th in total submission , allowed one run and three hits, struck out four and walked one batter.
Chicago’s Mark Buehrle , who was 4-0 with an ERA of 1.29 ERA in interleague games , lost for the first time since June 1st. Buehrle (6-7 ) allowed three runs on 10 hits and five walks , his most in the season, in six innings .
Reliever Victor Mars, his compatriot Robinson Tejeda and Joakim Soria , who earned his 19 save in 21 chances , worked to preserve the advantage Lerew with three scoreless .
