Diabetic patients with diabetic foot are at greater risk of developing problems due to the pathophysiological effects of diabetes. What really happens in diabetes is that the nerves are being damaged that is why the sensation in the foot is reduced. Normally when you get hurt of course you may be able to feel it and the very first thing that you will do is to protect your foot but in diabetes because of that decrease sensation they can no longer feel any pain that is why the damage goes undetected. The circulation in diabetes is also reduced and this affects the foot in supplying it nutrients and the agents needed for healing once damage is done.
