The study of the nervous system and its disorders is the Neurology.  The study includes disorders of the central nervous system (ie the brain); the peripheral nervous system (ie the spinal cord and nerves to the limbs); and the autonomic nervous system (ie the part of the nervous system that control subconscious body function). For the reason that the nerves controls the foot and the way that it functions and the nerves in the foot and lower leg can get damaged causing pain in the foot the podiatrists have an interests in neurology. Also nerve function may be lots affecting the muscles and the feeling of sensations from the foot.
