My ten year college reunion is coming this summer and it’s given me pause to reflect on the fact that I still have a long time before my student loans will be paid off. As an undergraduate, and subsequently as a graduate student, I borrowed a significant amount of money to pay my tuition and boarding expenses, and I remain grateful that I had access to easy student loans to help me achieve my education goals. However, I hope that students take the time to consider the long-term responsibilities accompanying the trust that schools and financial institutions invest in them when they sign on the dotted line. Paying off the loans is hard work, but it’s absolutely worth it!
